Agroecology: Ecosystem-based Adaptation in Agriculture
A discussion at GLF climate exploring the possibilities for collaboration between the agriculture and climate change communities on climate resilience
The challenges posed by climate change to agriculture and food systems are too great, and the time too short, to respond to each distinctly. This session will therefore emphasise the strategic opportunity for a progressive agenda on climate change resilience that exists when the agriculture and climate change communities pursue joint programs and strategies. To this end, the session presents agroecology as ecosystem-based adaptation in agriculture and identifies areas to develop agroecology and ecosystem-based adaptation further.
This session is part of GLF Climate: Frontiers of Change event series.
This session takes place as part of the Global Landscapes Forum's hybrid conference GLF Climate: Forests, Food and Finance – Frontiers of Change. The conference, organised in partnership with the Government of the United Kingdom, will take place in Glasgow, Scotland, on the sidelines of the 26th session of the UN Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP26) to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change.
The conference aims to: accelerate action toward achieving the Paris Agreement’s climate goals; showcase evidence that landscape approaches are a great way to accelerate action, as they deliver mitigation and adaptation successes, without compromising on local livelihoods and human rights; and tackle seemingly incompatible trade-offs and address real barriers to landscape progress.
