Food Systems Programme Lead Olivia Riemer and Research Associate Gültaç Çinar present TMG’s True Cost Accounting (TCA) work at Biofach, the world’s leading organic trade fair. Taking place over four days in the Nuremberg Exhibition Centre, Biofach brings together the international organic food and natural cosmetics industries.

On Wednesday 12th February, from 10:00–10:45, in Hall 9, Olivia Riemer will moderate a session on “True Cost of Food: Insights for Sustainable and Healthy Dietary Recommendations,” exploring the true costs of current German diets compared to national dietary recommendations and the Planetary Health Diet. Amelie Michalke (Co-Founder, PATOS) will talk about TMG’s and PATOS’s research into the true costs of diets and Gültaç Çinar will present a framework for implementing TCA into healthy and sustainable dietary guidelines. Following that will be a discussion with Dr. Antje Risius (Junior research group leader, Georg-August-Universität Göttingen), Dr. Marco Springmann (Senior Researcher, Oxford Martin School – University of Oxford) and Dr. Peter von Philipsborn (Team Lead Public Health Nutrition, LMU Munich) on the environmental, social, and health impacts of diets and offer insights into promoting sustainable and healthy dietary guidelines.

On Thursday 13th February, from 12:30–13:30, in NCC Ost, Level 3, Room Shanghai, Olivia Riemer will co-moderate with Dr. Jenny Lay-Kumar (Managing Director, Regionalwert Research gGmbH) a session (in German) on “Managing and financing sustainable transformation—insights into innovations from SEBIT to Nature Equity,” presenting CSRD-compliant approaches that make the costs and benefits of sustainable business visible. Panellists are Tobias Bandel (Head of Biome, The Landbanking Group GmbH), Prof. Dr. Knut Henkel (Professor of Financial Accounting, Emden/Leer University of Applied Sciences), Dr. Katharina Reuter (CEO, Federal Association for Sustainable Economy BNW e.V.), and Silke Stremlau (Chair, Sustainable Finance Advisory Board of the Federal Government).
