TMG Side Event at GLF Africa Digital Conference
An Interactive Discussion at GLF Africa 2021
On 2 June 2021 at 0930-1100 East Africa Time (GMT+3), TMG, ICRAF and WWF International will co-host an interactive session 'From Community-Led Restoration to Carbon-Enhancing Landscapes' as part of the Global Landscapes Forum conference on Restoring Africa's Drylands.
In this session contributors including researchers, activists, NGO workers, civil society organisation members, international organisation staff and finance professionals will explore what lessons can be learned from ongoing community-level soil and land restoration projects, particularly those that prioritise the inclusion and empowerment of marginalised land users. We will discuss how an enabling environment can be built to support the scaling-up of such initiatives. Co-organized by TMG, ICRAF and WWF International, the session also features speakers from Indigenous Information Network, PaTree Initiative (Kenya), Watershed Organisation Trust (India), Groupe de Recherche et D'Action sur le Foncier (Burkina Faso), UNCCD and Mirova. A white paper, which contextualises the session and sets out some important questions for the discussion, can be found here.
The Global Landscapes Forum conference takes places online on 2-3 June. It is the first ever digital conference focused entirely on Africa’s drylands and how integrative restoration practices can see them flourish once again. Registration is free for nationals of African countries.
