Sustainable Land Use: Sustainability Starts with the Soil
The Global Forum for Food and Agriculture (GFFA) is an international conference on central issues of vital importance for global agricultural and food policies. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic that has not yet been overcome worldwide, the GFFA will once again take place in a virtual format.
The GFFA is hosted by the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture (BMEL) in cooperation with the Berlin Senate, Messe Berlin GmbH and GFFA Berlin e.V.
The five-day forum features a large number of events that provide 3,000 participants from the worlds of politics, industry, science, and civil society with an opportunity to address and reach consensus on issues and challenges relating to global agricultural policy and food security.
In the past, high-level keynote speakers such as António Guterres, Josefa Sacko, Angela Merkel, Ban Ki-moon, and Prince Charles joined the GFFA line-up.
The political highlight of the GFFA is the Berlin Agriculture Ministers’ Conference which is not open to the public. It is the world’s largest conference of agriculture ministers, attended by around 70 agriculture ministers. High-level representatives from more than 10 international organisations such as the FAO, OECD, WTO and World Bank also attend the conference.
