This bilingual event, with German and English simultaneous translation, will discuss Germany agriculture's longrunning reliance on seasonal migrant labour. This theme has been subject to rare attention during the COVID-19 pandemic, with the government adopting new measures to attempt to prevent labour shortages, but a fundamental improvement of working and living conditions for workers was not generally considered. This discussion addresses the conditions under which migrant seasonal workers work and live in German agriculture. It will reflect on current developments and challenges at the national, EU and global levels, and discuss political demands for fair working conditions.
