This three day event, hosted by the UN and the Government of Italy, will take place in a hybrid format, welcoming participants at FAO headquarters in Rome and online. Bringing together youth, smallholder farmers, indigenous peoples, researchers, private sector, policy leaders and ministers of agriculture, environment, health, and finance among others to deliver the latest evidence-based and scientific approach from around the world, the event will launch a set of new commitments through coalitions of action, and mobilize new financing and partnerships. The pre-summit is a vital step in the organisation of the Food Systems Summit, which will take place in September alongside the General Assembly in New York, as well as in the preparation of COP26 in November, in which the role of food systems in achieving climate targets will be an important element of discussion.
