Workshop
Strengthening locally led water governance through digitalization
Project workshop bringing together implementing partners, researchers and water experts
This technical workshop will explore how to strengthen the critical role of community-led local institutions (such Water User Associations, Aquifer Management Committees and Gram Panchayats) in participatory water management and governance. It will specifically address the added value of digital tools in enhancing sustainable water use, equitable access, climate-resilient crop planning, and other sustainable approaches. Building on practical experience in applying digital tools in the water and natural resource management sectors, the discussions will highlight, among other issues: the role of digital tools in participatory crop water budgeting; roles and responsibilities of different local actors in water management; how to address some common challenges faced in introducing digital tools at the village level; and how to tap the potential of digitalization to further enhance crop water budgeting as an inclusive and climate-resilient approach to managing scarce water resources.
