TMG Research contributed a background paper on True Cost Accounting to this year's FAO report, The State of Food and Agriculture (SOFA) 2023, on the hidden costs of the global food system. The SOFA report focuses on the true cost of our agri-food industry, which amounts to at least 10 trillion dollars, or almost 10% of global GDP.   

In this podcast, Bernd Lechler, from the SWR2-Forum Podcast, talks to Nutritionist Eva Endres, Biologist Udo Maid-Kohnert (Editorial Director of Ernährungs-Umschau) and Alexander Müller (Managing Director of TMG) about the environmental, social and health consequences of our diet.   

These range from climate-damaging gases caused by livestock farming, drought due to the irrigation of fields, poverty due to underpaid farm workers and, finally, damage to health caused by high-sugar foods.   

What needs to happen politically to change this? And how can we as consumers already eat in a more environmentally friendly way?
