Anne Maina is the National Coordinator of the Biodiversity and Biosafety Association of Kenya. She works on challenging ineffective solutions to climate change being pushed upon communities in Africa such as genetic engineering, biofuels, a new 'green revolution' and carbon markets. She has been instrumental in the growth and development of networks such as the Eastern and Southern Africa Small Scale Farmers’ Forum (ESAFF), Participatory Ecological Land Use Management (PELUM) and the Alliance for Food Sovereignty in Africa (AFSA) and other networks in Africa.
