Since 2016 Layla Liebetrau has led the Human Right to Food Initiative, which she also conceptualised and developed, at the Heinrich Boell Foundation in Nairobi. She works closely with small-scale farmers, grassroots organizations, the media, policy-makers and the wider public to foster a socially inclusive, cross-sectoral discourse on chronic food insecurity and food rights, in Kenya. She holds degrees in psychology and political science from the University of Cape Town.
