The Women's Land Rights Initiative: placing land rights at the heart of just climate action.
Our latest video showcases why women’s land rights must rest at the heart of just climate action.
Our latest video showcases why women’s land rights must rest at the heart of just climate action. All 3 Rio Conventions rely on one precious resource – land – to meet their climate action targets. This adds even greater demands to land, where stark competition already leads to land grabs and displacement. Venture upon venture, commitment upon commitment – stacked on top of our one finite resource, inhabited and relied upon by millions of people. Rural women who heavily rely on land for their livelihoods should be treated as part of the solution to climate change, as well as part of our global compass to guide decision-making in climate action initiatives. Achieving that requires robust safeguards – like land rights – to ensure they can contribute to biodiversity, land degradation neutrality and other climate goals. Watch, learn more about our movement, and join the cause!
