Side event: Four years of learning from monitoring the implementation of the UNCCD land tenure decision in six countries – Global Soil Week

Drawing on research findings by TMG Research and its partners and insights from policy dialogues and local engagements, the discussion provides valuable perspectives for advancing the UNCCD Decision 26/COP14 implementation.

This side event explores the lessons learned from four years of monitoring the implementation of the UNCCD Decision 26/COP14 on land tenure across six African countries. Drawing on research findings by TMG Research and its partners in Benin, Kenya, Madagascar, Malawi, Niger, and Uganda, as well as insights from policy dialogues and engagement between civil society organisations (CSOs)s, local authorities, and UNCCD National Focal Points, the discussion will provide valuable perspectives for advancing the decision’s implementation. The event will conclude with a joint position from CSOs, aiming to reignite momentum for the land tenure decision and underscore the need for an enabling environment for its successful implementation.
