Claudia Lopes
Claudia is a women’s rights activist with over 18 years of experience in the violence against women sector. Her career has seen her support victims of intimate partner violence in South Africa and the United Kingdom, before transitioning to advocacy work when she joined the Heinrich Boell Foundation's Cape Town office. Claudia has since led a number of research and advocacy projects aimed at improving the states response to gender-based violence and femicide. Her current position at the foundation involves partnering with organisations leading imperative work in the GBV and LGBTQI+ rights sector. She is currently completing a Masters Degree in Criminology and Law at the University of Cape Town.
