Iromi Perera

Iromi Perera is a researcher and activist based in Colombo, Sri Lanka. She is the Director of Colombo Urban Lab, an interdisciplinary think-tank working towards equitable cities. She works on post-war urban development and spatial justice in Sri Lanka and her recent research looks at the lived experiences of urban working class communities affected by polycrisis; focusing on infrastructure, livelihood, food environment and social protection. In 2019 Iromi was a Commissioner on the People’s Commission on Land initiated by the People’s Alliance for Right to Land (PARL) in Sri Lanka. Iromi was a Senior Researcher at the Centre for Policy Alternatives (CPA), a Sri Lankan public policy research and advocacy think tank from 2008 - 2017.
